Our current plans for consumer shows include the following…

April 8th – 10th : We return to London’s Southbank for the tasty Chocolate Festival

April 16th – 17th : We head on down to Brighton for our first time at the Chocolate Festival‘s southern sibling….

June 16th – 19th : Another debut, this time at the rather mighty Taste of London festival in Regent’s Park, London!

And our lovely friends in the trade are not forgotten either…

September 29th – 30th : We are off to spread some pretzel-shaped love at the Lunch! Show in Old Billingsgate, London

The Big Yum has existed for almost three years now, but 2010 was the year that things really took off at Big Yum HQ. When we relaunched the brand in March at the Food and Drink Expo in Birmingham, the interest in us from retailers and press alike was hugely encouraging, and we were delighted to land Harvey Nichols as our first retailer. Allied to top gourmet food distributor Cotswold Fayre taking our Swerves too, our fledgling company got off to a storming start!

As 2010 progressed, we added top Newcastle store Fenwick to our roster, and interest has flooded in from retailers in the UK and abroad.

We’ve also made our presence felt in the prestigious gift bags of some major international stars at Capital Radio’s Summertime Ball at Wembley and the Jingle Bell Ball at the O2.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, and we have some big plans for the year ahead, including a new product due to arrive in the next few weeks. We’re really looking forward to introducing new outlets, new people and new countries to The Big Yum’s unique brand of snacksmithery in 2011 and beyond!

A few weeks ago The Big Yum headed to a top-secret London location to take part in a pitch to win £30,000 worth of digital marketing and online/offline PR support, run by The Grocer magazine and supported by top London agencies Untitled and On & Off Communications.

Clutching our whiteboards in our hands, we put across our case to the judges as to why The Big Yum deserves the top prize, which we think would give us a massive boost in trying to make The Big Yum truly big!

The results have been put out to the public vote and you can still enter here although the closing date is today….we’re up against some pretty stiff competition!

Happy voting! x

It’s been a little while since we last blogged, a little shameful bearing in mind we’re a forward-thinking-fast-moving-lip-smacking-thirst-quenching company which takes the interweb extremely seriously. I mean, you just need to take a look at our Twitbook page to show how much we know about this web malarkey…

We do have a reason of sorts, and it’s because we’ve been quite manic over the last few weeks. We’ve got into Harvey Nichols, done lots of tastings, spoken to lots of other people who want to stock us and generally made sure Great Britain doesn’t run out of Chocolate Swerves!

We’re very proud of the news that our Swerves are to be included in the artist goodies bags, green room and backstage area of Capital Radio’s Summertime Ball, which takes place this Sunday (6th June) at Wembley Stadium. However, we’re not letting all this hob-nobbing with the stars get to our heads, as tomorrow (Saturday 5th June) we’ll be paying a visit to the Sydenham Fayre in Oxfordshire, one of the fairs we used to do when we were an even tinier start-up (The Little Yum?). Attractions include Morris Dancing, Jousting and a Pub Team Tug of War…and if that’s not enough for you it’s being opened by resident BBC newscaster Fiona Bruce! So do come along if you’re passing and fancy indulging in pretzel heaven…oh, and did we mention the Pimms tent?

The Big Yum is also very proud to have got a mention from Carolyn Hart of the Telegraph on their website yesterday, a link to which can be found here.

P.S We’re also looking very seriously at increasing our range with some exciting new products…watch this space for further details!

As a new company, it’s always quite nerve-wracking to see how our product and brand are going to be perceived by the world at large, which is why we’ve been very happy with a couple of things that have happened in the short time since we relaunched.

Firstly, we were able to announce that Harvey Nichols will be stocking our Chocolate Swerves from early May, which is amazing. It’s always good to get individuals and trade buyers coming to us eager to see how they can get hold of our products, as they have been since we ran our stand at the NEC, and we’re delighted to have a store of such calibre as our first stockist.

Secondly, we received our first review. The guys over at Chocablog are great lovers of chocolate in all its many forms, but if a product doesn’t cut the mustard, they certainly don’t mince their words! So it came as a great relief when they wrote a very positive review of our Swerves, which can be found here.
